BAER testing

BAER testing (for hearing) was done in Ft. Collins, CO on Monday, Oct. 4.  The pups were all declared to be bilateral hearing.  We are delighted with the results.  Yeah Sadie and Slade for producing these wonderful puppies.  The pups were great riding in the van.  I put them all in one crate--they were comfy and slept most of the way up.  Our friend, Betsy Smith, from VA rode along and helped out.  She also took the photos. Thank  you, Betsy.
You can see the wires placed behind each ear and at the back of the top of the head of this pup.  This pup was laying quietly in Tana's lap.  The pups were very good for this procedure.  BAER stands for brainstem auditory evoked response.

It is important that the pup be very still during this procedure.

This pup was happy as long as Tana held its  head.  It takes about 40 seconds to test each ear.  We have tracings (print outs) for each of the puppies.  The results are being sent to the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and will be on record there.

Montana was most comfortable on his back!  What a boy.
