Brady #1

Just found out after looking on the AKC website that Brady (GCH CH Monumental Taking The High Road) is the #1 Dalmatian for 2012 in the Owner-Handler Series which was started this year.  We were only in 1 competition, but it paid off.  He was BOB and also received a Group 1 from Judge Glenda Dawkins.  This competition was held in Denver in February.  Wish more clubs would include the Owner-Handler competition along with their all-breed shows.  Additionally, 1/2 brother Gambler (GCH CH Glen Oaks Firekeeper's Gambler)  was the #2 Dalmatian.  (They share the same dad--Slade--BISS GCH CH Rockstar's Reconsider Me ROMX)

Happy 10th Birthday Jordi!

Today my big liver boy, Jordi, turned 10.  It doesn't seem possible-where does the time go.  He is a very sweet, happy boy.  Tuesday he got to do a little tracking--helped me find my friend's small camera.  Yesterday he got to do a therapy visit at MacKenzie Place where my mother lives.  She loves him.  He makes her laugh.  Everyone there loved seeing him.  Today we played in the yard, had special mini cakes, and got a couple new toys.  Jordi thinks every day is special.  That's just the way he is.  Here are some photos from his day:
What a hppy boy!!!  Love the devil look.

Colorado Springs show pics

Here are new pics of Brady from the Colorado Springs shows-he was BOB both days.  It is going to take him forever to get the Bronze GCH level as entries around here are very small right now.  He has somewhere between 34 and 38 points toward that.  Oh well-he is fun to show so we will get to show for a long time.  He is 21 1/2 months old in these photos.  We were showing in a horse arena with reddish dirt--not too nice for the white feet.  He did make a cut of 6 in the group even though he wasn't what I'd call at his best that weekend.  We had a bitch in season at home and she was peaking--Brady wasn't too interested in showing as a result.  His brain truly was elsewhere.

New photo-Brady

Here's Brady's latest photo--BOB the 2nd day of the Terry-All KC shows.  He was BOB the 1st day as well-which finished his GCH.  He's not quite 20 months old in this one.  I like the way this pup is maturing.

Fun News at Monumental

Have had some good news lately here at Monumental.  First I learned that Brady is #20 Dalmatian--yep bringing up the rear in the Top Twenty for now.  Guess I'll have to keep showing him-although we will be doing local shows only.  No traveling for now.  Today I learned that he is #1 Dalmatian in the new AKC Owner/Handler competition.  Too bad we don't have more local shows scheduled with that event.  He is also #9 all-breed O/H with a gazillion others.  Needless to say-I'm proud of this pup.  He loves to show and is such fun.  He reminds me a great deal of his Great Granny Mackie--I miss her so much--but see her in him often.
I also got Sadie's CD title photo today.  She looks so cute--me--not so much   I'm proud of her, too.  She is doing really nice open work, so it won't be long before I can enter her in a trial and give her a chance to earn that title.
Sadie earned a 190 and 4th place to finish her AKC Companion Dog title. (Actually-Sadie earned a 193--I gave her an extra command-intentionally-and lost 3 points-oh well-it was worth it.)  The judge pictured is Sue Oviatt-Harris.  She is a very fair judge and loves to see the dogs do well.

Grace Goes Lure Coursing

This weekend Candy and Grace tried Lure Coursing.  Candy reported that Grace was awesome.  She earned 2 lelgs toward her Coursing Aptitude title.  Here's a photo of her at the start today (I think she loves this sport!).  One Greyhound exhibitor said she was glad her dog didn't have to run against Grace.
Below is a video of her run today: she really 'kllls' the plastic bag at the end.
Grace has also participated in dock diving.  She needs only a 3 point major to finish her AKC Championship.  She is a UKC Champion.  We are proud of what she and Candy are doing.  Best of all--they are having fun.

Terry-All KC and Collie Club Obedience Trial

Had a very good weekend of showing Brady and Sadie.  Sadie was in Novice Obedience on the 13th.  She was good; got a 4th place in a large novice class at the Collie Club of Colorado specialty.  This was her 3rd leg so she can now put CD after her name.  I showed Brady and had a friend show Sadie in Breed on Sat.  Brady was Best of Breed and Sadie was Best of Opposite Sex under Judge Dr. Robert Indeglia.  With those awards they both finished their AKC Grand Championships.  What fun to finish mom and son at the same show.  I let Sadie stay home on Sunday.  Brady was again Best of Breed until Judge Dr. Anthony DiNardo.  Brady is such fun to show.  He walks in the ring and stacks himself.  He reminds me so much of his Great Grandmother, Mackie.  He loves the group ring and really gaits well when people are cheering for him.  I really appreciate the folks who have become his fans.

Owner/Handler Group 1

At the Feb. shows in Denver, Brady was awarded a Group 1 in the Owner/Handler competition.  The  judge was Glenda Dawkins.  Her comments about him were very complimentary.  Below is the photo for that win.

AZ shows

Took Brady and Sadie to AZ for the Dal specialty and all-breed shows in Scottsdale.  Always love going to these shows--great weather (most of the time), stay with my friend, Marilyn, nice Dal people who put on a great specialty and a wonderful raffle--baskets full of fun things.  Brady was Select Dog at the aftgernoon specialty for a 5 point major.  He was BOB the next day for another 5 points.  He now has 26 GCH points, but needs 1 more win over a special to achieve the GCH title.  Sadie was Select Bitch at one of the all-breed shows for a 5 point major. She now has 23 GCH points.  She only needs 2 singles to finish that title as she has already met all the qualifications for majors and wins over competition.  It was fun to have her showing again.
Photos will be posted when I receive them.
The photo below is from the Denver shows held in Feb.  Brady was BOB and also earned a Breeder/Owner Group 1 (that photo hasn't arrived yet.)

Jordi-week 3

Jordi continues to heal very well.  We are now doing 15-20 minutes easy walks 2-3 times each day--when weather permits. These walks need to be on level ground as much as possible which is hard to find around here.  We normally walk up and down our cul de sac which is a very slight hill.  He loves these walks.  We go at his pace most ofo the time until he tries to go fast--he is to walk and not trot.  It's also good for me to do these easy walks to get my foot and ankle back in shape.  His range of motion continues to be good.  He is feeling much better at this point than he did with the last knee.  I believe the laser treatment he got coming out of surgery made a huge difference in the initial healing.

In Memory of Mackie

Mackie was the first born pup at our house.  She was in a litter of 3--2 boys didn't survive.  The girls were robust.
Mackie 8 days old sleeping in an 8 inch cake pan.
Mackie nursed every chance she got.
After a meal--Mackie belly up.
Mackie makes a good pillow for sister, Tassie.
4 weeks of age--we could see those beautiful dark eyes

 12 weeks--lots of attitude
We nicknamed them 'The Bad Sisters"  They had so much fun together.  Here Tassie stands over Mackie.  12 weeks of age.  We hope they are together again.
Mackie earned her first points at 6 months of age.
One of Mackie's best friends, Rachel.  Rachel always got big smiles from Mackie.

Without a doubt-Mackie had a great smile.
Her 9th birthday--she knew she'd be getting toys.
September 20, 2002 Mackie whelped 5 beautiful puppies: 3 boys & 2 girls.

Mackie loved to track.  She set the standard for Dals as she was the first to become a Champion Tracker.  We spent many wonderful times tracking.  She was the perfect dog for me to track: she never made me think.  She was awesome.  It was always thrilling to walk/run behind her on a track.

In 2004 we traveled to Calgary Alberta Canada for the 100th Anniversary shows for that kennel club.  The Dalmatian National Specialty was also held at that time.  Mackie was Winners Female at all 5 shows.  She also earned a Best Opposite Sex and a Best of Breed over several specials.  She was also awarded a Group 2.  Those wins were enough to rank her #7 Dalmatian in Canada for that year.
