Jordi-week 3

Jordi continues to heal very well.  We are now doing 15-20 minutes easy walks 2-3 times each day--when weather permits. These walks need to be on level ground as much as possible which is hard to find around here.  We normally walk up and down our cul de sac which is a very slight hill.  He loves these walks.  We go at his pace most ofo the time until he tries to go fast--he is to walk and not trot.  It's also good for me to do these easy walks to get my foot and ankle back in shape.  His range of motion continues to be good.  He is feeling much better at this point than he did with the last knee.  I believe the laser treatment he got coming out of surgery made a huge difference in the initial healing.

In Memory of Mackie

Mackie was the first born pup at our house.  She was in a litter of 3--2 boys didn't survive.  The girls were robust.
Mackie 8 days old sleeping in an 8 inch cake pan.
Mackie nursed every chance she got.
After a meal--Mackie belly up.
Mackie makes a good pillow for sister, Tassie.
4 weeks of age--we could see those beautiful dark eyes

 12 weeks--lots of attitude
We nicknamed them 'The Bad Sisters"  They had so much fun together.  Here Tassie stands over Mackie.  12 weeks of age.  We hope they are together again.
Mackie earned her first points at 6 months of age.
One of Mackie's best friends, Rachel.  Rachel always got big smiles from Mackie.

Without a doubt-Mackie had a great smile.
Her 9th birthday--she knew she'd be getting toys.
September 20, 2002 Mackie whelped 5 beautiful puppies: 3 boys & 2 girls.

Mackie loved to track.  She set the standard for Dals as she was the first to become a Champion Tracker.  We spent many wonderful times tracking.  She was the perfect dog for me to track: she never made me think.  She was awesome.  It was always thrilling to walk/run behind her on a track.

In 2004 we traveled to Calgary Alberta Canada for the 100th Anniversary shows for that kennel club.  The Dalmatian National Specialty was also held at that time.  Mackie was Winners Female at all 5 shows.  She also earned a Best Opposite Sex and a Best of Breed over several specials.  She was also awarded a Group 2.  Those wins were enough to rank her #7 Dalmatian in Canada for that year.

Jordi-12 days post surgery

It seems impossible that Jordi had his TPLO surgery only 12 days ago.  He is putting good weight on the leg-walking nicely.  We are doing several 5 minute walks each day; still doing massage and the range of motion exercises.  He loves the massages and falls asleep suring the ROM exercies.  He is so relaxed.  I've been letting each of the dogs come into the office to visit--one at a time.  He needs to keep his dog relationships going.  He really would love to romp and play, but that is a few months off.  I'm so pleased with his progress.  I really believe the initial laser treatment made a huge difference.  The surgical site looks great.  He is such a good patient.
